Things You Need To Clean Every Week
While cleaning is no one’s favorite activity, there are items in your home which need to be cleaned weekly to keep your home looking its best. Not only does cleaning these items weekly keep your home looking great, but it also means you will be ready for visitors on a moment’s notice and you won’t be stressed about having a messy house.
Here, the Signature Maids team has created a checklist for you of all the areas in your home which you need to clean every week. It’s up to you whether you want to get it all done in single day, spread it out over the week, or call on the team at Signature Maids to get the job done for you!
Dirty Laundry
While you may have a laundry day on the schedule, often it goes by the wayside and the dirty laundry threatens to take over your house. And though it may be your least favorite in the weekly chore list, having your family help can make all the difference. Dirty clothes, towels, sheets, and so on, need to be handled weekly. To make the job easier, keep separate sorters (baskets, hampers, or bins) for whites, lights, and darks, to get you one step closer to getting the job done.
Dusty Furniture
Everyone knows dusty furniture looks bad, but it can also be bad for your furniture and your health. Dust can damage your furniture, scratching it. Because of all the components in dust, it can also trigger asthma and allergies in those who live in your home. Using a microfiber cloth, a multipurpose spray cleaner or furniture polish is the best way to eliminate dust weekly and keep it from building up for longer periods.
Sullied Rugs and Carpet
Guests, family members, kids, and pets all contribute (though not always on purpose) to dirty rugs and carpets throughout your house. Vacuuming weekly is the key, and if you have pets, you may need to vacuum more often. Keeping up the vacuuming helps keep your carpet and rugs looking good, but also protects them from damage due to ground in dirt.
Spilled and Spattered Kitchen Appliances and Floors
Kitchen appliances, from the stove to the microwave to the refrigerator to the dishwasher, though they may appear clean, are often plagued with fingerprints, food bits, spills, and spatters, as well as germs. And while they may go unnoticed at first, if you don’t wipe your appliances down regularly all those little “things” will build up. Clean and disinfect weekly to keep your appliances looking good and your kitchen germ-free.
While you’re in the kitchen, give some attention to the kitchen floor. Remember the kitchen is a busy place, with lots of traffic, which means germs, grime, and dirt along with spills accumulate daily. Sweep and clean the kitchen floor weekly for best results.
Germy Bathroom
This is not to say every bathroom is germy all the time, but mold, mildew, and other germs find the bathroom the perfect home and ideal breeding ground. Find a great disinfecting cleaner to help these surfaces resist mold, mildew, germs, and scum. Working to keep bathroom surfaces, like tubs and showers, dry will also help. Counters and mirrors also need weekly cleaning. In the bathroom, you can keep germs away by keeping the toilet closed when flushing – leaving it up while flushing can spray germs and bacteria across the room, up to six feet! Of course, that means, you’ll want to keep the toilet cleaned weekly as well, using your favorite disinfectant or bleach.
There you have it, an easy to follow list of all the areas of your home to clean weekly. And, should you need assistance to get the job done, Signature Maids is only a phone call away!
